Navitas (NVTS) Stock Soars on News of Strategic Collaboration

After a significant agreement with tech giant NVIDIA was announced, Navitas Semiconductor Corporation’s (NASDAQ: NVTS) stock value soared by an astounding 125.70% to $4.32.

Revolutionizing Data Center Power Delivery

The goal of this partnership is to create the next-generation 800V high-voltage direct current (HVDC) architecture for data center infrastructure, which is anticipated to power NVIDIA’s cutting-edge GPUs, such as the recently revealed Rubin Ultra.

Traditional power architectures that presently employ 54V in-rack distribution—an method that restricts scalability and efficiency beyond 200 kW—are the focus of the collaborative effort.

The goal of NVIDIA’s new 800V HVDC architecture is to get around these restrictions by providing scalable, high-efficiency power supply for workloads powered by AI. The growing power requirements of AI data centers, which currently need for capabilities in the gigawatt (GW) region, are what are driving this transformation.

NVIDIA’s infrastructure approach immediately transforms 13.8 kV AC grid power into 800V HVDC at the data center perimeter by utilizing solid-state transformers and industrial-grade rectifiers. This method eliminates multiple AC/DC and DC/DC conversion stages, significantly enhancing reliability and efficiency.

GaN and SiC Technologies at the Core

Navitas brings to the table its cutting-edge GaNFast gallium nitride (GaN) and GeneSiC silicon carbide (SiC) technologies, pivotal to this HVDC initiative. High-voltage systems benefit from reduced copper requirements—by as much as 45%—due to lower I²R losses, offering both material savings and higher energy efficiency.

For context, a traditional 54V DC system would require over 200 kg of copper to deliver 1 MW of power—an unsustainable model for future AI infrastructure.

Innovative Power Solutions and Global Debuts

Navitas continues to make waves with its pioneering product launches. In November 2024, it introduced the world’s first 8.5 kW AI power supply unit (PSU) with 98% efficiency, followed by a 12 kW PSU debut at its ‘AI Tech Night’ in Taiwan this May. Both products adhere to Open Compute Project (OCP) and Open Rack v3 (ORv3) standards.

Additionally, the company’s patented IntelliWeave digital control technology, paired with GaNSafe and Gen 3-Fast SiC MOSFETs, has achieved power factor correction (PFC) efficiencies up to 99.3%, slashing power losses by 30%.

A Strategic Leap Toward AI Data Center Dominance

With a robust portfolio of GaN and SiC-based solutions, Navitas (NVTS) is well-positioned to support NVIDIA’s vision for efficient, high-power AI data centers—spanning from grid infrastructure all the way to GPU deployment.
