The Three Top Cruise Line Stocks to Watch For in 2021

Cruise Line will have its time in the future. For now, let’s watch out for the best in the market.

The cruise line industry has much to prove as the market has still enough potential. However, the bears are roaming around, as the pandemic seems to prolong. The fact that travel stocks, in general, have been bad bets for investors last year. It wouldn’t be fair enough to rule out that there were some notable performers from the industry, which kept up their progress.

The cruise line companies operate across the globe and are part of various destinations, offering a variety of itineraries and themed cruises. People use to spend vacations and have parties and enjoy their time out. We might see the demand for such functions increase in the coming time, with the overall situation calming down. Let’s see the three top cruise line stocks to watch for in 2021.

    Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH)

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) is the third largest cruise line company in the world by passengers. NCLH stock has been on a roll since October last year. Overall, the company has been on the downward side, with a sequential-quarter increase in debts.

The company intends to relaunch its vessels and over the longer run, optimize its balance sheet and keep things to move as they were post-pandemic. So, Norwegian being one of the biggest giants in the industry must be in your sight for a potential investment in the long-term.

    Lindblad Expeditions (LIND)

Lindblad Expeditions (LIND) owns and operates cruise ships. The Company provides cruising and adventure travel to its customers. The company has been working with guests to amend travel plans and refund payments—following the circumstances.

In mid-2020, the company announced that it raised $85 millionthrough private placement issuance of convertible preferred equity to prominent investors. This capital raise is expected to support LIND’s liquidity needs through this year, even if the global pandemic once again causes lockdown.

Moreover, during Q3 2020, the company reported that it has implemented significant cost reduction strategies. So, investors must keep LIND in their investment book.

    World Fuel Services (INT)

World Fuel Services (INT) is one of the leading firms that operate across three different segments which include aviation, land, and marine-centered businesses.  INT is part of the Fortune 100 companies.

INT’s marine business has massively impacted by the pandemic but it has much potential to bounce back. The company has different partners other than cruise lines within its marine sector.

For investors, the earnings growth rate of the company is 2.5%. The company’s anticipated EPS for this year subject to an increase by a whopping 59.1%. This compares to the industry average EPS growth of 58.5%, as per Zacks. So, INT is another key bet that could be beneficial in the long-term.

  • Is Norwegian Cruise Line (NYSE: NCLH) A Good Choice Right Now?

Is Norwegian Cruise Line (NYSE: NCLH) A Good Choice Right Now?

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Limited (NYSE: NCLH) shares closed green as it has gained +0.64 on Thursday. Norwegian Cruise Line, a world’s biggest cruise line continues raising debt in the following months in order to survive.

Previously, CDC ordered cruise lines to stop operations in the US until September. Hence, the Norwegian Cruise Line along with other major companies has decided to restart the work in late Autumn. In the meantime, Norwegian Cruise Line and other major companies such as Royal Caribbean (NYSE: RCL) has disclosed its plan that the companies are gearing up for the new Healthy Sail Panel.

The main purpose of the Panel is to prevent the spread of the virus of cruise ships. The panel consists of top experts in public health, biosecurity, infectious diseases, and hospitality and maritime operations. RCL and NCLH have disclosed that the panel will submit the plans to the CDC. 60% of Norwegian Cruise Line passengers have already demanded a refund for the canceled trip at the start of August. NCLH still has the ability to face these challenges and is not at immediate risk of becoming insolvent.

Shares of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Limited traded up 3.77% as it gained +0.64 on Thursday. In the past 52-weeks of trading, this company’s stock has fluctuated between the low of $7.03 and a high of $59.78. NCLH has moved up 150.78% from its 52-weeks low and moved down -70.51% from its 52-weeks high. If we look at its profitability, it has return on assets, equity, and investment of -12.20%, -37.70%, and 8.90%, respectively. Norwegian Cruise Line market capitalization has remained high, hitting $4.57 billion at the time of writing.

Norwegian Cruise Line has recently experienced the loss as all of its ships were docked in various ports around the globe. NCLH’s revenue dropped by 99% to $16.93 million in Q2.  Its net loss for the period was $715.2 million. Furthermore, NCLH has reported the adjusted EBITDA of -$393.1 million from April to June. It has a total debt of $10.3 billion at the end of June. Additionally, it has spent $160 million on fleet Maintainance, wages, interest expenses, and taxes.

If we compare the balance sheet of the Norwegian Cruise line with its competitors Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean, it has a worse balance sheet. Royal Caribbean and Carnival Corporation has reported the tangible book value per share of $36.79 and $24.9, respectively. While the NCLH has reported the less tangible equity on its books, and its tangible book value per share is only $15.60.

It is not wrong to say that the cruise line will continue to burn cash on a daily basis. It is planning to implement a rapid test system on its ship, but it is too early to say that it will continue its operation normally in the coming months. Additionally, another important problem is that the many ports and borders around the world are currently closed to stop the spread of the virus.

Moreover, it is possible that the no-sail order will be extended because of the current pandemic and upcoming flu season. If one person is infected on the ship the risk of infection spread also increases. If that happens on one of Norwegian Cruise Line ships, it is not wrong to believe that its stock will further plunge like it did earlier this year.

  • 3 Stocks to Watch This Morning Even As Major Indices Turn Negative

3 Stocks to Watch This Morning Even As Major Indices Turn Negative

Stock futures are down all across the board. This follows mixed earnings data from various sectors in yesterday’s session. The market is also awaiting economic data on the labor markets and on consumer spending. This data will be indicative of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, and the possible short-term direction of the equity markets. However, even under current conditions, there are stocks that are showing significant activity ahead of market opening, driven by upcoming earnings and a host of other factors. Some of the key stocks to watch are as below:

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd [NYSE: NCLH]

This stock is quite volatile this morning, after a strong performance yesterday when it closed with gains of 20.68%. Its current activity is driven by news that the company is to offer $250 million in a share deal. According to MarketWatch, the deal will have Barclays, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Citigroup as book runners. Norwegian Cruise Line has stated that it will use the money for general corporate purposes. The news of the share deal comes at a time when the cruise ship industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.  It will be interesting to see how the market interprets this news when markets open. Data on labor and consumer spending could move the entire market and reinforce the direction of NCLH stock.

    MGM Resorts International [NYSE: MGM]

MGM Resorts is another stock showing significant activity just as markets are about to open.  This follows the company’s announcement that it would be releasing its Q2 results on July 30th, 2020. The company is set for an active few weeks ahead as investors take positions ahead of its earnings report. In today’s session, MGM Resorts could also be affected by adverse movements in the main U.S indices that are already showing signs of weakness in early morning trading.

    Perrigo Company PLC [NYSE: PRGO]

Perrigo Company PLC is another active stock with significant price action ahead of market opening. At the time of writing, the stock is up by a percentage, even while the key indices point towards a relatively bearish day. This stock’s activity is driven by yesterday’s announcement of its Q2 results on the 5th of August 2020. For the next few weeks, investors will be taking positions ahead of the earnings call, and this could add to the activity of this stock in the near-term.
