The stock price of Webus International Limited (NASDAQ: WETO) experienced a significant increase subsequent to the declaration of two crucial strategic initiatives. WETO shares increased 5.74% in after-hours trading to settle at $3.50 on Thursday, after rising 88.07% during normal trading hours to close at $3.31.
A Non-Equity Financing Strategy Unveiled
Webus disclosed plans to pursue a diversified financing strategy of up to $300 million, centered on non-equity funding channels. The objective is to establish a dedicated XRP reserve to facilitate global cross-border payment solutions.
The strategy is not legally binding until formal agreements are finished and specific conditions are met, but the company plans to employ a combination of internal cash reserves, bank loans, shareholder guarantees, and institutional-backed lending from traditional financial institutions.
This non-dilutive financing technique is intended to improve capital efficiency, protect shareholder equity, and expedite long-term strategic objectives, especially in the blockchain and digital asset sectors.
Expansion of Tongcheng Travel Partnership
Concurrently, Webus renewed its multi-year strategic partnership with Tongcheng Travel Holdings Ltd., a leading online travel platform in China. This collaboration extends their successful “Wetour × Tongcheng” branded inter-city services across China, combining Tongcheng’s extensive user base of 240 million annual paying customers with WETO’s premium transport network to enhance domestic mobility services.
Building a Borderless Travel Ecosystem
Webus’ overarching goal of establishing a smooth, borderless travel experience is highlighted by the strategic connection between domestic infrastructure and global innovation. Through instantaneous transactions and the facilitation of features like wallet-based loyalty programs and real-time reimbursements, the XRP-based blockchain integration seeks to transform international payment settlement. At the same time, the collaboration with Tongcheng strengthens WETO’s logistical and technological base in China.
Encouraging Innovation Across Boundaries Webus’ strategy currently includes a full blockchain architecture, which includes the creation of on-chain trip records, Web3-based loyalty programs, and digital wallets.
These developments, paired with enhanced national mobility solutions, position the company at the forefront of next-generation travel services. By bridging its domestic operations with global payment innovation, WETO is charting a transformative course in the travel and fintech sectors.
